This is the Green River "Sheath Knife". It is 8.5" overall length and 4.5" blade length. The blade is made of high carbon steel which has the ability to hold a good edge and is stain resistant. The handle is beechwood. The blades are identical to the ones used by our forefathers. Green River knives have been made by Russell Harrington Cutterly since the early 1800's and feature proven designs used as working knived for almost 200 years. This is for all practical purposes a small butcher knife of the sort used by everyone a couple of generations back. The blade is thin to make it a better cutter and allow you to continue to use a heavily worn blade. As a general use knife I love it. Oil the handle and keep the blade oiled or it will rust. The sheath swallows all but a tad of handle meaning the knife isn't going to fall out. The sheath is made of good leather but the final finish isn't as nice as it might have been.
