Cap Wrench 86Mm Review

...but it works fantastic so we can't complain too much. Made in Taiwan, but don't let that scare you away. It's a decent tool and fits the filter cup good (nice and deep concave area, needed since the dome at the bottom of the filter cup on a 2.5T Volvo engine is so pronounced).

We ordered this on a lark, seeing as there are no reviews, no picture, and rather lacking description. It is the least expensive 86mm 16 flute filter wrench I could find on Amazon (unless you buy the multi-wrench kit). Shipping took over 2 weeks for us. Hopefully yours ships faster.

At the ~$8 it cost us total, it's worth it even though it takes a while to arrive. I rated this filter wrench with 5 stars. The shipping, if that's what I was reviewing, would receive far less.

By the way, you DO NEED an 86mm 16 flute filter wrench (preferably a deep one like this one) on a Volvo with the 2.5 liter Turbo, in our case an 04 XC70. When you initially get the plastic drip tray removed and look up at the filter, you're going to say to yourself, "Awe, I don't need that filter wrench all those other guys said I would need..."

Shortly after you finish saying that and get out your assortment of strap wrenches and band clamps and universal filter wrenches (going from one to the next, cussing as each one fails to do what you thought it would), you will find that you were wrong in your thinking, leave the old filter in the cup (since you cannot remove it), put the drain plug in, let the car down, dump in oil, and then go promptly inside and order your filter wrench so that in 2 weeks time when it arrives you can then put the car back up in the air and finish your oil change.

But don't take my word for it. Try your strap wrenches and band clamps first. That way I won't feel like the only idiot.
