This little welder is ideal for those little jobs. The one pictured shows removable cables and is yellow. The one I received is red and does NOT have removable cables. The color is no big deal, but I would have preferred the removable cables. The hand held shield that comes with the welder is junk and mine arrived with a broken lens, even though the lens was packaged separately. My review is on the welder, not the shield, but I thought I'd mention that. If you don't already own a decent welder's shield you'd better plan on buying one. The welder comes with 2 1/16" 6011 welding rods. I recently did a job using 1/8" 6011 rods and had to turn the welder up to it's highest setting to get them to fire up. I would recommend 1/16" to 3/32" rods with this welder. The stinger or electrode holder doesn't grip the rod tightly and it tends to move around which is annoying when you're welding. It also barely opens wide enough for a 1/8" rod. When it was time to change rods, it took two hands (with gloves of course) to remove the used rod. With my Lincoln welder, all I have to do is squeeze the handle and the rod falls out. I've already ordered a better quality stinger to replace the one that came on it.This machine will not operate on a 20 amp breaker. It kept tripping the breaker. That is no fault of the machine. You've got to supply it with adequate amperage if you expect it to function properly. It would probably be okay on a 25 amp breaker, but I used a 30 and it was fine. After I increased the breaker size, I was able to operate this welder on a heavy duty 50' extension cord. The thing I like most about it is it's very portable.
If you buy this welder, you'd better figure on increasing your breaker size for the outlet you plan to use it on. Most homes use a 15 amp breaker on most of the 120 Volt receptacles and possibly a 20 amp breaker in garage and utility areas. That's not going to be sufficient to power this welder.
The very first job I did with this welder, it paid for itself. Normally I don't endorse "No-Name" products but this little welder did what it was supposed to and I'm very happy with it. If it ever quits on me, it's inexpensive enough that I can just get another one.
