The OEM lug wrenches that come with cars these days are crap – even Cadillac wrenches. The one that came with my CTS was made out of light stamped steel. When I got a nail in a tire and needed to change it, the OEM socket end began to bend and distort while removing a nut. It did not fail completely, I managed to get the lugs off. But now the OEM wrench fits poorly and makes it hard to use. So I decided to get a basic socket and ratchet to replace the OEM lug wrench. I have used this socket several times to swap wheels (I have winter tires/wheels which I change out every season) with no problems or obvious wear. I don’t know if would stand up to daily use in a commercial auto shop, but it’s just fine to keep in the trunk for emergencies and occasional use.
