Its hard to get excited about a box cutter, but this product is no ordinary box cutter. It is an heirloom box cutter, your grandkids will use it till they get old... it is that well made, rock solid design, beautiful contouring, polished to the max...

The cutter uses the 1" ROCK HARD blades, not the standard 3/4" blades, and this makes all the difference in the world. They blades are not only razor sharp, but as their name implies, rock hard, they will not bend even under very heavy stress.

What makes this paticular model the creme de le creme of razor knives (aka box cutters)is the quick release mechanism. You simply slide the blade out with your thumb, then you can lock it with the same thumb. Then to retract, one simple reverse move, and the blade is recessed, a great safety feature... you can retract any cutter knife, but the ease of this knife makes you do it on a regular basis. In addition, when the blade is extended, if you want tighter control of the blade, you tighten a thumb screw on the opposite side of the knife (not shown in pix)and the blade is compressed against the cutters wall, allowing NO wiggle room. Great when cutting thick styrofoam! They simply thought of everything.

This product also has a unique quick change cartridge... you buy a speed load pack of replacement blades, and in one quick motion, you load the cutter with 5 new blades... cool, but not mandatory. The lower priced Tajimas are also very high quality, the best on the market... but this paticular unit, 700C, they simply thought of everything...

At this price, which seems high for a box cutter, it's a bargain considering the quality of the workmanship and materials that went into making this product. Once you use it, you will never go back to inferior type cutters.

I have no association with Tajima... just a happy customer, and I never thought I would write such a glaring review for a box cutter, but this product certainly deserved these accolades. IMO, this is what makes Amazon great... we share our experiences which hleps others with their "buy" decisions.
