I picked this bad boy up at around $15, and when I first got it I was a bit disappointed. The two-tone was poorly done, with the black paint they used lacking areas. It looked shoddy. And when I realized that the blade was a single cut of stamped steel sandwiched between two-faux wood handle pieces, I felt like I'd made a bad choice.

After the sloppy appearance wore off however, I came to realize that I had completely overlooked the fact that those sandwiched handles were being placed on either side of a full tang tanto knife with a good edge, effective serration on the spine, and a pretty decent thickness going for the blade.

For a trio of fivers, you can do a whole lot worse than that. Landing a sharp tanto knife with full tang construction and some above average thickness to the blade top to bottom more than makes up for the less attractive aspects it had going.

This can be a great utility knife, and one you don't mind bashing and trashing and throwing abuse at. Just don't buy it because it looks cool, because it won't live up to that as well as the sale posting would lead you to believe.
