I gave this knife 4 stars inistead of five for one reason: Case knives are very well made of quality materials but they are not razor sharp right from the box. Victorinox Swiss Army Knives on the other hand, are made of quality materials AND they ALWAYS come shaving sharp right out of the box! If I'm paying good money for a knife of any design, it is not unreasonable to have the expectation that the knife is razor sharp, ready to be put to the test right away. Case goes to all the trouble to make a nice polished knife with an edge that is not honed. It is like they run each knife blade past a grinder on one side and then the other without any real sharpening going on. They just set the edge angle. However, having said all this, I used to sharpen tools for a living once upon a time back when the earth was still cooling so it is fairly quick and easy for me to get the blades sharp to my liking. If I can do it so can you. Once the blades are sharp, the knife is good to go. If you keep a Case knife sharp and clean it will serve you for a lifetime and can be passed on to the next generation.
